Website Copywriting

Service:

Kyle Rivas has been a professional photographer in Kansas City and nationwide for nearly 20 years. Over that time, he's photographed just about everything, from weddings and portraits to corporate events and high-profile sports. But a few years ago, he made a major pivot and chose to close his wedding photography business to focus exclusively on event and sports photography.

So when he came to me, he needed a website that better reflected this shift. More importantly, Kyle felt like he was running two separate businesses, with corporate events on one side and sports photography on the other, and he really struggled to find cohesive messaging that connected them both.

He needed website copy that positioned him as the Kansas City go-to event photographer that he is (you can regularly find him capturing high-profile events like the Big Slick celebrity charity event and corporate gatherings for major brands) while also showcasing his sports photography work, including his role as one of the Kansas City Chiefs' main photographers. The challenge was finding the thread that tied these two together. (And if you’re wondering if he’s ever photographed Taylor at the Chiefs games, the answer’s yes, I definitely asked 😆)

The Results

Since launching his new website, Kyle's business has attracted exactly the kind of clients he was hoping for. He's landing the right inquiries, primarily event-based clients, including major brands like Facebook and Amazon. He’s finding that by the time clients get on a call with him, they already feel confident in their decision to work with him.

One of my favorite parts of this project was building the messaging themes that unified his event and sports photography work. At first glance, they seem like completely different services, but I was able to help him see that they're both about creating marketing material that helps his clients grow their businesses, events, and brands.

Whether Kyle is shooting a corporate conference or an NFL game, he's capturing images that his clients will use to increase visibility, build credibility, and connect with their audiences. So that became the foundation of his messaging strategy.

We structured his site with a general Services page that spoke to the common threads between his work, then created dedicated pages for Corporate Event Photography and Sports Photography that addressed each client type's specific needs. The corporate page in particular was really important to get right, because we needed it to differentiate Kyle from the wedding photographers who dabble in corporate events without truly understanding how to create marketing-focused imagery.

You absolutely nailed it. I can tell the messaging is really resonating. By the time clients get on a call with me, they already feel confident in their decision, which is huge.
